I can see November from my house!

Came across this video on Facebook and had to share it.  It would seem a political bloodbath is coming for the Progressives.

Brothers in Arms

Picture
I recently had a conversation with some political operative friends of mine.  (Yes, I now know political operatives – how exciting!)  At any rate, during the course of the conversation a particularly astute observation was made that I would like to share:  Many, if not all, of the actions the Obama administration is taking, like suing the state of AZ, declaring a moratorium on deep sea oil drilling, and eliminating 5000 jobs from Hampton Roads by shutting down the Joint Forces Command, are tactics to wound those who would oppose them and distract them from the ultimate goal of removing Progressives from office and defeating the Progressive agenda that has hijacked our Republic.

(This strategy, btw, is straight out of the Progressive playbook, Saul Alinski’s Rules for Radicals.  If you haven’t read it, you should.)

President Obama and his Progressive minions are not limiting their attacks to the big boys like states or conservative leaders, they are trying to intimidate, overwhelm and psychologically defeat us individually as well.  They’re calling us racists, terrorists and bigots while consistently trying to either ignore or marginalize us.  (And by “us” I mean the conservatives and Patriots who are working to get the country back on the path our Founders intended.)

We are in a battle for the survival of the Constitutional Republic our Founding Fathers bequeathed to us.  We cannot be distracted from our ultimate objective by the bullets whizzing by our heads or a flesh wound or two *.  My suggestion:  Keep earplugs handy, carry band-aids and remain focused on the ultimate goal of restoring the Republic without being sidelined by distractions.  We must arm ourselves with the Truth and a clear vision of the mission then get out there with our fellow Patriots.  We can rest when we’re dead; the Republic needs us.

*  Just a note for any moonbats who might have stumbled upon this site:  I am speaking metaphorically, I know you're not really shooting at us... yet.

Mrs. P Goes to Washington

Picture
As I wrap my torch and sharpen the tines of my pitchfork in preparation for the Tea Party March on Washington next week, several thoughts flicker through my mind, the first being:  Man I hope the Marxists in charge don't decide to round us all up and ship us off to the gulag while they have so many of us in one place.  You're laughing now, but stuff happens man.  We are making it pretty easy for them, you know...

My second thought is:  I hope no one does anything stupid, like inciting others to violence or acting violently themselves.  Frankly I don't believe any true Tea Party Patriots would do that.  As we've seen at the previous rallies and Town Hall Meetings, it has been the Leftists (ie, SEIU thugs and MoveOn.org people) who have become violent when presented with ideas they don't like.

My third concern is biased media coverage or no media coverage.  If this grassroots Tea Party movement has shown us anything it is just how much the mainstream media is in the tank for these lefties and particularly the President.  They have been able to ignore us in our own communities across the nation but it might be a little more difficult to ignore a quarter of a million people knocking on the front door of the nation's Capitol.  We shall see.  At least we know Fox News will be there -- but that is a little like preaching to the choir.

My final thought about this rally is a mixed bag of pride, hope and concern: I have never been more proud of We the People.  It took us a while to wake up and smell the fascism but now we are ready to hold our noses and march into the rancid belly of the beast that has been eating away  at our rights and livelihood for so long -- our own elected government! It is about time we took a stand to defend and save our Republic!  Woohoo!! Go Us!

I am hopeful that we can and will make a difference and turn this crazy train around; we have been making progress this summer thwarting the horrific, socialized medicine plan the powers that be thought they could sneak past us.  I believe they have awakened a sleeping giant; I just hope that giant doesn't have ADD.

My concern is that after the big march and the probable defeat of the health care bill and then Cap & Trade, all of these real people with real lives will go back to business as usual, thinking that our work is finished.  The truth is that for the Marxists and leftist radicals in our country, trying to destroy our system and all the freedom and wealth it provides for all who choose to seek it is business as usual.  We must not be lulled back into the false sense of tranquility that we have been fat, dumb and happy in for the past decades.  We must remain alert and active within our government so that we never get this close to the abyss again.  Have your wonderful life that this great Republic affords you but watch the news, read blogs, discuss politics at the dinner table with your kids-- heck, run for office or at least do your homework and elect Constitution-supporting candidates to public office.  Stay involved at some level in the political discourse in your town, state and country because, as a wise man, John Balyo, once told me, "WE ARE THE GOVERNMENT."  Now go out there and act like it. That's what I plan to do from here on out.

Crazy Train: Party in the Dining Car!
Woo! Woo!

Picture
Frankly I think there is a whole lot of arrogance, power grabbing and just plain stupidity and lack of foresight operating on both sides of the aisle in DC.  Both parties have failed the American people over the past decades.  This mess did not start with Barack Obama and the Democrats.  What good did the Republicans do with their majority back in the 90’s?  George W. Bush put the Patriot Act in place, which is being used currently by the Leftists in charge to turn this country into a Government-controlled socialist state.  Who started all this bailout nonsense that is bankrupting our country?  George W. Bush with TARP.  Who is continuing these useless bailouts and bogus stimulus initiatives? The Democratic majority with the complicity of many Republicans.  Members of both parties have been laying the groundwork for the destruction of our Republic for quite some time.  The political elite have let their own egos and lust for power and money compromise their principles (if they ever really had any).  They have been too busy trying to figure out how to “buy” votes using entitlement programs and trying to get money from special interest groups to run re-election campaigns to be focused on the business of the nation.  They haven’t just been asleep at the controls, they have been partying in the dining car.  Well, now the train is approaching a cliff at breakneck speed and not only can the engineers not reach the engine car in time but they have also neglected to provide proper maintenance to many of the essential systems that might have prevented this tragedy.  If we the people shout loud enough, we might be able to slow the train down by convincing the drunken conductors not to put any more fuel in the fire; that big pile of dollars they have been printing at the Fed. lately has sure sped that puppy up! Unfortunately slowing this train will not be enough; looks like we the people are going to have to build a big wall between this crazy train and the cliff.  The building materials can be obtained in voting booths across the nation beginning in 2010.  We will sustain some horrific damage to the engine and some of the cars, but we can salvage much and rebuild, correcting and undoing past mistakes and hiring all new engineers and maintenance personnel to get us up and running on the right track again.  We do still have the construction plans to do that; it’s called the Constitution.  Fortunately those plans have not yet been destroyed, just cast aside by the political elite and locked away in the quiet, true hearts of the American people.

1984 Revisited

Given the political climate of late, I have decided to re-read 1984.  I had read George Orwell's futuristic cautionary tale some 20+ years ago and I remember liking it but I don't think I was fully capable of grasping the finer points as a teenager. Boy is it speaking volumes to me now -- and I am only on chapter 5!  The similarities between the frightening totalitarian state depicted by Orwell and the policies, tactics and attitudes being fomented by both parties in our nation currently must be pointed out and the course we are on altered.  The truth is often stranger than fiction -- Good Lord I hope that will not be the case here!  If you haven't read 1984, you should.  It is troubling but compelling and wonderfully written -- well, duh, it is a classic.  You can read it for free online by clicking here.
I have been so impressed with 1984 and what it can tell us right now that I am going to post a series of commentaries as I read through the book.  The first one is  posted below. Enjoy and please feel free to send me your thoughts!

To Heck with Alinski’s Rules for Radicals, the Liberals Are Lifting Their Latest Strategies Straight from George Orwell!

Winston sank his arms to his sides and slowly refilled his lungs with air. His mind slid away into the labyrinthine world of doublethink. To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy, to forget whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly to forget it again : and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself. That was the ultimate subtlety: consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed. Even to understand the word " doublethink " involved the use of doublethink.    --- George Orwell, 1984, chapter 3

Does this seem familiar?  Isn’t this what the Liberals are doing every day?!  Protesting and speaking out are fantastic and ‘patriotic” as long as you are protesting and speaking out about the “right” things.  Speak out against the Libs and their agenda and you are part of a terrorist mob.  Either exercising your 1st Amendment rights is good or it is bad; it cannot be both.  And yet that is exactly what the Left is saying, or should I say “doublespeaking.”  I guess you could call it hypocrisy.  I call it lunacy because they keep doing it even when we call them out on it.  There must be something in the Kool-aid that makes their doublespeak believable because it works like a charm on the moonbats and Obamzombies.  Conservatives must be immune.  So if you are reading this and it is making sense, please DO NOT PANIC.  There are more of us than you may have previously been lead to believe.  Now who could possibly want you to think you are in the minority or worse yet, alone and delusional in your conservatism? I won’t answer that – you can think for yourself.

Oh, the Hubris!!

This morning on Twitter I clicked a link that would afford me the opportunity to Tweet my senators and give them my opinion on Obama’s Healthcare Plan.  When I clicked the link I was appalled by the symbol at the top of the screen.  It was the medical caduceus (entwined snakes wrapped around a staff with wings at the top) combined with the round emblem that was Obama’s campaign logo.  So, what ... is he America’s physician now?!  Are you kidding me?  (Excuse me while I glue the top of my head back on!)  I suppose if he wanted to start calling himself an economic Dr. Kevorkian, that would be a fairly accurate assessment.  As for the symbol of his healthcare plan, he needs to combine a skull and crossbones with his little logo to portray a more accurate image of what his healthcare plan would do to individual freedom, the quality of care and ultimately our economy.  Sheesh!!!  For once I am (almost) at a loss for words.  .

A Political and Economic Primer

Inspired by Glenn Beck radio show July 22, 2009

What kind of government do we have today?

Our Founding Fathers established a Republic based NOT on majority rule but on the rule of law so that no one would be above the law and the inalienable rights of the individual would not be infringed.  Clearly we are no longer that nation.  I have listed below your current options for the type of government we are or are becoming.  I think right now we are being forcibly transitioned but only time will tell (and I think not very much time) what we are becoming governmentally and economically.  In the meantime here are your options -- and remember that just because we are seemingly on a path to a particular system does not mean that we cannot stand up and change course, at least if we act soon.

       Types of Governmental Ideologies

Monarchy / Dictatorship:  rule by one person but is usually more of an oligarchy (rule by a small group) because a monarch or supreme leader nearly always has a council or group of bureaucrats with whom he consults and gets things done.

Oligarchy:  rule by a small group of people who hold all of the power and influence.  The group may put one person out front as a perceived leader.  This is the most common form of government in the world.

Republic:  rule by law – law that limits the government’s power so it cannot infringe upon the rights of individuals.  The rights of the individual are sacrosanct, endowed by God.  Puts everyone on a level playing field – no one is above the law – justice is blind.

Democracy:  rule by the people or majority / mob rule.  The majority is not restrained and can infringe on rights of individuals.  Not good for minority groups / individuals.

Anarchy:  No government in place.  It is a temporary system -- usually a transition from one form of government or another.  Chaos ensues as powerful individuals are able to foist their will on weaker individuals.  This situation is very wild, wild west – survival of the fittest.  Individuals are so busy protecting life (their own and family members) and property, there is little or no mobility or time to build wealth (or even a comfortable existence).

                   Types of Economic Ideologies

Socialism:  system which advocates public or collective ownership (usually by the government) of the production and distribution of goods and services.  Political socialism often includes wealth redistribution via a progressive tax on the highest wage earners and distribution to the lowest wage earners or non-wage earners through social welfare programs.  Socialism developed as a means to counteract perceived defects and injustices of a capitalist system.

Communism:  From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.  In it’s purest form (which does not exist) a sort of utopian society in which everyone is equal and does what he does best for the greater good and takes only what he needs from the collective.  Surgeons and short-order cooks earn the same.  According to Wikipedia, communism is “a socioeconomic structure and political ideology that promotes the establishment of an egalitarian, classless, stateless society based on common ownership and control of the means of production and property in general.  In political science, however, the term "Communism", usually spelled with the capital letter C is often used to refer to the Communist states, a form of government in which the state operates under a one-party system and declares allegiance to Marxism-Leninism or a derivative thereof, even if the party does not actually claim that it has already reached communism.”

Fascism:  The Concise Encyclopedia of Economics (CEE) defines fascism this way:  “socialism with a capitalist veneer.”   The CEE further explains that fascism gives the “appearance of market relations while planning all economic activities,… controlling the monetary system and setting all prices and wages politically. In doing all this, fascism denatures the marketplace. Entrepreneurship is abolished. State ministries, rather than consumers, determine what is produced and under what conditions. Under fascism, the state, through official cartels controls all aspects of manufacturing, commerce, finance, and agriculture. Planning boards set product lines, production levels, prices, wages, working conditions, and the size of firms. Licensing is ubiquitous; no economic activity can be undertaken without government permission. Levels of consumption are dictated by the state, and ‘excess’ incomes are to be surrendered as taxes or ‘loans.’”Fascism does not claim to own private industry outright but uses its power and influence to coerce industry into doing the right thing for the nation as the gov’t defines it.

Free Market:  A system in which consumers and producers agree to exchange goods and/or services at a price which is agreeable to both parties – free of government intervention or coercion on the part of any involved or outside parties.  Supply and demand determine value and price.  When the supply of a product is greater than the demand for that product, the sellers/providers lower the price to get the buyers to buy.  When the demand for a product is greater than the supply, the sellers can raise the price because the buyers are willing to pay the cost to procure the scarce product.

Capitalism:  According to the Concise Encyclopedia of Economics can also be called “economic individualism” whose “basic premise is that the pursuit of self-interest and the right to own private property are morally defensible and legally legitimate. Its major corollary is that the state exists to protect individual rights. Subject to certain restrictions, individuals (alone or with others) are free to decide where to invest, what to produce or sell, and what prices to charge. There is no natural limit to the range of their efforts in terms of assets, sales, and profits or the number of customers, employees, and investors; or whether they operate in local, regional, national, or international markets.”

My Advice:  Invest in Bananas... the Monkey is Hungry.

"The monkey on our back is debt."  -- Nassim Taleb, author "The Black Swan"

Picture
In an interview on CNBC's Squawk Box Taleb explains why "we're in the middle of a crash" and it's not gonna get better any time soon.  Lovely.  My advice to you and also my opinion of how the government is dealing with the economy:  BANANAS.

Is the "Mainstream Media" in the Tank for Obama?  Uh...DUH!

Just when I had regained a glimmer of hope that the press was beginning to wake up to the whirling dervish deceit machine that is the "transparent" Obama Administration -- thank you ABC's Chip Reid and Helen Thomas (What?!)  -- a new story emerges about the Washington Post attempting to sell access -- $250,000 worth of access (what the heck does THAT buy?!) -- to Obama Administration members, Congresspersons and some upper-eschelon members of their own staff.  Now mind you, this soiree, billed as a "Salon" at the home of the Post's publisher, Katherine Weymouth, wasn't just open to any old rif-raf (like you and me) but was offered via flier to lobbyists and organizational CEOs.  Well thank goodness!  Those poor people have such limited access to the halls of power, I am glad to see the playing field being leveled -- whew!  Sadly though, the Salon was cancelled when a lobbyist who received a flier, brought the situation to the attention of a reporter from Politico.com who went public with the story.  Those poor disenfranchised lobbyists and organizational CEOs!  Whatever will they do?  How will they make their voices heard?!  Fear not, they are a pretty resourceful bunch, I'm sure they'll recover.

Question of the day:  Where was that $250,000 per person gonna go -- to be used for what purpose?  Oh, I know, fancy hors d'oeuvres -- those pigs-in-a-blanket can cost a pretty penny.

Time for some discomfort and rabblerousing!
The Cap & Trade bill, H.R. 2454, will negatively impact EVERY American.

Do you drive a car, heat and/or cool your domicile, eat food that is transported to your store from somewhere else, exhale CO2?  If you answered yes to any of those questions the Cap & Trade bill will cost you money.  Estimates range from $175 to upwards of $3000 per year per family.  This bill is intended to reduce global warming (if it even exists) by decreasing our dependency on fossil fuels by making their use cost-prohibitive.  Basically the government is labeling carbon dioxide a pollutant and putting a "cap" on the amount of CO2 emissions the country is allowed to produce.  Companies are issued a certain number of CO2 credits, but if their emissions are greater than those credits, they must purchase more credits from other companies that have lower emissions and don't need all of their own credits.  These companies will pass the cost of the credits on to the consumer -- YOU.  A worst case scenario would be that companies unable to meet the new lowered emissions standards or unable or unwilling to obtain more CO2 credits would move their operations overseas to some country who does not have a Cap & Trade plan (like India), taking American jobs with them.  The government also plans to lower the cap over time in an attempt to force US companies to find new renewable and more efficient energy sources.  Currently the plan is to reduce US CO2 emissions by 80% by 2050 -- good luck with that.
The Cap & Trade Bill also gives the government a much broader range of control on individual citizens -- because we just don't have enough of that already.  Here are just a few of the unbelievably intrusive mandates in this bill:
  • California emission standards will be imposed on the whole country.
  • Every home will have to pay an inspector to give their house an energy rating.
  • If you want to sell your home and it is not up to the government mandated energy rating standard, you must bring it up to code before you are allowed to sell your home.
  • If you want to do any home improvement to raise energy efficiency of your home, a study (performed by some government agency) must be undertaken prior to and after the improvement to ensure the improvement was successful in raising energy efficiency -- I promise I am not making this up!
  • Here's my personal "favorite" for the insidiousness of intent here -- The government will now dictate to Fannie Mae & Freddie Mack what types of loans they can make based on energy and location efficacy -- WHAT?  So basically the government is going to dictate where lower income people can live -- surreal.

Well, this bill really packs a wallop and the timing could not be worse. Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't we just told about the horrific plight of our economy that justified the trillions of taxpayer bailout money?  Do we really need to pass legislation that within it's own context stipulates to the fact that US jobs will be lost, and that will cause energy costs to rise dramatically for every American household?  Give me a break!

Unfortunately the US House of Representatives narrowly passed this bill (219 to 212) and it will soon head to the US Senate.

Contact your Senators and tell them to vote NO! on the Cap & Trade bill.

Coup d'etat in Honduras?  Uh, no...

The legislature of Honduras ousts their elected President, Manuel Zelaya.  Sounds like a coup d’état doesn’t it?  That would be bad, very bad… if that were really the situation.  Contrary to what Pres. Obama and his administration and the “mainstream media” would have you believe, IT IS NOT.

Yes, Pres. Zelaya was duly elected in 2006 to serve a four-year term.  The Honduran Constitution limits presidents to only one term – not an entirely bad idea actually.  Well, Mr. Z was really having a great time and decided that it would be just fantastic if he was able to keep his job forever.  He tried to put forth a last-minute referendum to change the Honduran Constitution to allow him to do just that.  The Honduran legislature of course balked at the idea and gave ole Manuel a political smack-down.  The issue went to the Honduran Supreme Court who ruled that such a referendum was illegal.

President Zelaya, with complete disregard of the Honduran Constitution and his nation’s political system, ordered the leader of the Honduran military to go ahead with the referendum anyway.  Fortunately for the Honduran people, Joint Chief’s of Staff head,  Gen. Romeo Velasquez refused; he was subsequently fired by Zelaya.

Long story short, General Velasquez was reinstated by the Supreme Court; and the Honduran legislature, in accordance with their Constitutional processes, voted to remove Pres. Zelaya from office for his failure to obey and uphold their Constitution.  (Are you listening Washington?).  The military escorted now former-President Zelaya out of the presidential residence.  Apparently Zelaya is currently in Costa Rica vowing to return and take power again.  He is being supported by Venezuelan leader and burgeoning socialist despot Hugo Chavez – oh, and that pillar of freedom and Democracy, Fidel Castro – now that’s HOT!  In accordance with their Constitution’s chain of power, the President of the Congress, Roberto Micheletti, has been sworn in as the interim President until new elections can be held.

To all of this I say, “You go freedom-loving Hondurans! You worked within Constitutional constraints to solve a nasty political problem.  You upheld the rule of law.  Woo hoo!”

Now for the reaction of our national leadership… You’re gonna love this.  Our illustrious president is siding with Chavez and pushing for the reinstatement of Zelaya! “Why would he do that?” one might ask.  Well, I have a theory….hmmm….why could it be…. uh, maybe because Obama (and the Congress) have chosen to trample our Constitution by taking ownership of financial institutions and private corporations, and passing overreaching patently un-Constitutional legislation (Cap & Trade anyone?); they have to back other world leaders who do the same things or they will be condemning themselves and they think we (The People) are too stupid to figure that out.
